Reality of Naga political imbroglio

The main causes of the present Naga political developments may be traced to the birth of communistic philosophical inception, which contradicted the Naga political values that gradually culminated into the divisionism within the Naga social fabric.

Much mud-slinging of allegations and counter allegations have done its rounds to the disapproval of the general Naga public. Whatever one may justify or counter justify, as long as it is against the wishes and desires of the mass general Naga public, it remains to be an anti-Naga nationalistic pursuit and require an end. To deeply delve into causes of today's mayhem and turmoil, let us analyze the reasons rationally.

The advent of communistic ideology in the Naga political arena came in the later part of the 70s, which witnessed the formation of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), i.e. in 31st January, 1980. Though the Naga National Movement was resuscitated by the formation of the NSCN, there existed incongruous interpretation of socialism. Th. Muivah advocated conservative communism, whereas the Nagas upheld our nascent customary village democratic form. In the initial period, Nagas believed the socialism of Th. Muivah as that of democratic socialism. The true communistic ideology of Th. Muivah came to life during his return to Nagaland in the later part of 2006, during which, in a general meeting at Hebron Camp he conveyed that all excess properties of individuals for that of the State shall be seized and transferred to the national property and utilized in the interest of the national policy. Wealth and property taxes shall be levied upon all Naga citizens, which will go to the national treasury.

To graft the entire scheme of things that had developed hitherto, the ultimate intent of advocating communism and consequent annihilation of thousands of Nagas in the name of sovereignty thus far, is discovered to be nothing but a policy of rehabilitate deprived Nagas of Manipur in Nagaland State. In addition to this, the economy of the Nagas of Nagaland has been drained into their private coffers. This fact is well supported by their state of rags (yesterday) to riches (today). Can they (Muivah's stooges) deny that they are today driving luxury cars, living in posh marbled houses, frequent journeying abroad and to Indian cities on airplanes, owning posh flats in India and abroad, have established private colonies in Indian cities, etc, with the money drawn from the Naga public in the name of Naga sovereignty and nationalism?

To mention some, they have attempted several assassination attempts upon Naga leaders like S.C. Jamir, Thenucho, late Hokishe, Hollohon, late Jasokie, etc., they have assassinated Tobu Kevichusa, Hollohon's family, General Povezo, Dally Mungro, Kilonser Nganpang, etc., all in the name of Naga sovereignty and nationalism. They have massacred entire villages at Lainung, Khiamniungan areas. Many porters in Eastern Nagaland have fallen victims to the atrocities of Muivah's cadres. The Shaiza's clan have been exterminated for opposing his dictates. Rev. Dr. Tuisem Shishak has been ostracized for revealing the truth of their mistakes in the Naga political history which was exposed with the aim of reconciliation in within. Many Tangkhuls and Naga intellectuals have fallen victims to the dictatorial iron fist of Muivah that has left a dark legacy behind. Whereas, the ground reality contradicts the purpose. Can they justify their deeds committed in the name of nationalism?

All Nagas of Manipur does not desire to unify with the Nagas of Nagaland. This reality is evidently professed with the participation of Nagas in the Manipur State Legislature, Manipur Civil Services, Naga organizations opposed to the disintegration of Manipur State. Mr. Reishang Keishing Tangkhul Naga during his Chief Ministership of Manipur Legislative Assembly had led a delegation to Delhi with a memorandum to the prime minister of India stating that not even an inch of land of the territory of Manipur State will be permitted to merge with any other state of the Indian Union. The Southern Nagas Students Union in the year 1998 submitted a memorandum to the Indian prime minister seeking a separate union territory within the Indian Union. The recent declaration of United Naga People's Council (UNPC) of Manipur which had openly declared their pledge to defend the territorial integrity of Manipur at all costs, also exposes the desires of its people. How would Muivah define these facts?

When all peace and unification efforts by apex Naga tribal bodies, NGOs and Churches failed, due to the obstinate national principles advocated by Th. Muivah, the fratricidal killings continued unabated. With the selfless endeavour and clarion call of the GBs and DBs Joint Forum of Nagaland State for peace and unification amongst all Naga brethrens, the Sumi Hoho and Western Sumi Hoho took up the cudgels and called upon all like-minded national workers for an unconditional unification. Following this appeal, the Sumi national workers with the consent and approval of Chairman Isak Chishi Swu initiated the unconditional unification of all warring Naga camps so that the rest of the Nagas could follow suit, and subsequently the ongoing Naga unification process conceived. But to the unfortunate disappointment of all the Nagas, Isak for reasons best known to him retracted his words and the unification process was falsely dubbed on tribally inclined interpretations to sabotage its process. Despite the signing of ceasefire within warring parties under the aegis of the GBs and DBs Joint Forum of Nagaland on December 2007 at Kohima, Muivah's cadres in blatant violation and disrespect of this ceasefire started cold-blooded killings, kidnappings, torturing of Naga unification members and innocent Naga publics. This led to the Naga unification camp's reprisal.

Today, in whichever manner Muivah's camp may be justifying the killings of Nagas, their false pretext of nationalism must be understood by all the Nagas. The Nagas want nothing but unification and peace among Nagas to expedite a lasting Indo-Naga political solution. We give all the credit to Muivah in internationalizing the Indo-Naga political issue. But we have to understand that it is the Nagas and India that will bring about any solution to the protracted political imbroglio and not the international community which will resolve the issue.

Nagas should realize that Nagaland state is not a Gaza Strip to rehabilitate others. We will respect and remain committed to the brotherhood of the Nagas and continue to co-exist in fraternity. But at any circumstances our brethrens across the fence should not make the Nagas of Nagaland state as their scapegoat and deprive us of what belongs to us and crucify us for their own interests only. Nagas are fed up and tired of the taxations, intimidations, threats, dictates, deprivations etc under the barrel of Muivah's stooges in their false pretext of principled nationalism or communism. Enough is enough! Stop the killings and leave us in peace to our issue!

Nagas! Rise up in unison to end all killings and intimidations in the name of deceptive nationalism and principles. Let us pursue our issue in unity, in a constructive, peaceful, democratic and diplomatic approach in all civility with proper conscience. Our unity transcends all forms of isms or divisive elements and posterity deserves a better future to prosper ahead with the rest of the world.

KUKNALIM.
