Fire at Japhou Bazar, Chandel
Imphal, May 10: After the bakery incident that broke out recently in Chandel district headquarters, another fire broke out Japhou Bazar in the night of May 8 in which the house of one Kl Konem Anal was gutted, informed a press release issued by the Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO).
It also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the personnel of Chandel Sub-Fire Station and AR personnel posted at Chandel as well as to the general public for their timely help in both the cases.
On the other hand, the CNPO has appealed to the authority concerned to increase the number of vehicles and personnel manning the only sub-fire station of Chandel to enable them tackle such incidents more efficiently.
While appreciating those contractors engaged in the construction and black-topping work of the Pallel-Chandel road, it appealed to the contractors to come forward with their problems regarding certain portions which have been left undone and to complete the work at the earliest.
The CNPO also sought attention of the Works Minister to ensure that development work of Pallel-Chandel road is completed before the onset of rainy season.
It further asked district level officials and staff to attend to their duties and see that development programmes are properly implemented according to guidelines.
The federal assembly of the CNPO which was slated from May 12 to 14 has been deferred to May 14 to 16 at the same venue.
